Measuring school readiness

Our team uses a combination of methods to evaluate a child’s readiness for the classroom:

This information helps us decide when a child is ready to transition to a school setting with confidence.

Understanding school readiness at L.E.M.Y.S

At L.E.M.Y.S, we consider school readiness to be a child’s ability to participate in a general education classroom with a functional level of independence. This means they can successfully join classroom activities and follow daily routines with reduced support from a one-on-one provider. To help children prepare for this transition, we follow a clear and structured process. We use detailed data to track every milestone of their progress and make strategic changes to their L.E.M.Y.S therapy schedule to align with school hours. As a child gets closer to transitioning to a full-time classroom, we help them spend more time in group settings to build their confidence in social learning environments.

What steps do you take to help children get ready for school?

L.E.M.Y.S has a proven path to get your child ready for their first day. We track every small win using our L.E.M.Y.S data tools and carefully update therapy schedules so they match the natural rhythm of school life. We also provide more opportunities for group play and classroom-style learning as they get closer to their transition, ensuring they feel right at home when they walk through those school doors.
